Enjoy a rail holiday to remember in the beautiful Welsh mountains travelling in comfortable carriages propelled by steam.

Board the Snowdon Mountain Railway with sweeping views of Snowdonia National Park and the Llanberis Lake Railway, which snakes along the edge of beautiful glacial Lake Padarn. Your base for this trip is the historic Llandudno Bay Hotel, moments from the beach and a 20-minute walk from the Great Orme Tramway.

In just 15 minutes you can reach the expansive Snowdonia National Park and the market town of Conwy. You will get the opportunity to ride the Ffestiniog Railway, the world's oldest narrow-gauge railway, and visit the unique Italianate village of Portmeirion. You'll also have time to explore Betws-y-Coed, the principal village of Snowdonia, known for its outdoor pursuits.

A unique rail journey to the highest mountain in England and Wales is also in store, on the Llanberis Railway, which dates from 1896.

    Snowdon Mountain Railway & Llanberis Lake Railway

    Today you'll head to the village of Llanberis, which sits on the southern bank of Lake Padarn and the foot of Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. You'll take a return journey on the lovely Llanberis Lake Railway, which follows the shore of Lake Padarn with wonderful views of mountains and the lake along the way.

    Later, you'll board the Snowdon Mountain Railway for a return journey to the summit and visitor centre, appreciating fantastic views over the scenic valley.

    Portmeirion and Ffestiniog Railway

    Enjoy an included visit to Portmeirion, a weird and wonderful Italianate village set on its own private peninsula. It is most famous for being the setting for the 1960s TV series The Prisoner. Also included today is a scenic journey on the Ffestiniog Railway, the world's oldest narrow-gauge railway. This scenic 13½-mile journey encompasses, pastures, villages, forests, lakes, waterfalls, tunnels, and horseshoe bends (even a complete spiral!) as your train journey travels the full length of the railway between Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog.

    Betws-y-Coed & The Welsh Highland Railway

    This morning, your coach travels to Betws-y-Coed, the principal village of the Snowdonia National Park situated in the heart of the Conwy valley. You have free time here to explore at leisure before heading to the picturesque riverside village of Beddgelert. Here you will join the Welsh Highland Railway for a relaxing journey as the train meanders its way along the line with views of forest and mountains before heading towards the coast and the imposing Caernarfon Castle.
